A Photo Day

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on July 18, 2017

A day off and it's bright and sunny and dry. A good day to go out and take a few shots. There's no theme, just whatever presents a photo opportunity.

This shot was from the top deck of a 140 bus at Harlington Corner, as we head towards Harrow.

Shopping in the 21st Century

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on January 11, 2010

I’m a frugalist. No, that doesn’t mean I’m a tightwad. It means I am always looking to see if I really need to buy something or if it’s just a whim. I know it’s good treat yourself sometimes, but it’s not really a god idea if you buy something on impulse that you’ll never use. I’ve done that before, like most people, and then gotten cross with myself later.

Anyway, I was at it again yesterday.

I have a netbook. I wanted to get a headset with a mic in, so I can use it when I’m out and about to make phone calls and to listen to music. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, as it’s only going to be for occasional use in any case.

I found something that would suit me in Staples. Well, I found two sets. One is an over the ear folding headset’ the other is an earplug type. The latter is more portable, taking up less room in my bag, but I usually prefer the headset type – I always find earplugs fall out of my ears, no matter what size plugs I use.

Now, this is what I always do when I’m out. I reach for my Blackberry.

I go to Amazon.com, and read customer reviews. OK, I know they’re not perfect, I know some are possibly made up. I make a point of reading both the good ones and the bad ones. Then I check the price. Then I order from Amazon.

Why?

It’s almost always cheaper, and I’ve learned that I usually don’t need things NOW. A few days won’t hurt.

So, the headphones in store were $29.99 for the over the ear type, and $19.99 for the earplugs. On Amazon I found the best of both worlds. An over the ear type, with clips, without the headband, so a very small amount of room in my netbook case. Also, they were $12.72, with $6 shipping. That’s still cheaper than the $19.99 set, to which I’d have to added tax.

OK, so it was only a very few bucks saving, but I saved a lot more a few weeks ago, when I bought my netbook case. It was priced at $39.99 in Office Depot, and I got it online for $29.99 with free shipping, a total saving of some $14! That’s certainly worth the wait.

This can only get worse though, as yesterday, when I was looking on the mobile Amazon site, it offered me their Amazon App for Blackberry. I downloaded it. It works like a dream, you can very easily search for products; read all the reviews, and it even supports secure one-click ordering.

Now if only I could buy through my own Amazon affiliate account, and save even more… Oh well one can’t have everything!

Lost Dog In Ladson, SC – Can You Help?

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on December 29, 2009

Do you know anything about this little dog or its whereabouts? If you do, read on!   If you have any information call the number below or the email address provided, or get in touch with me, if you wish, and I’ll pass any messages on. The poor girl is so upset at the disappearance of her cute little dog.

My puppy, Ladybug or Lady, was taken from my yard Monday 12/28/09 between 3:30 – 4:00pm.

She was on her purple leash & some African American kids with puffy jackets on bikes where last seen in my yard with my puppy before she was stolen.

She was put outside to go the bathroom when my fiancé walked to the other side of the house to check on something & when he came back she was gone.

She is only 4mths old, at most 10″ long maybe 5pds; she has a purple polka dot collar. She is 1/2 silky terrier & 1/2 Chihuahua; Black & Brown with a little white hair/fur. She is sweet, loving, doesn’t bark much, isn’t completely house broken & is teething so she chews on everything.

I have had her since she was about 4weeks old. She is like my child!

If found please bring her to THE PINES (9919 HWY 78 Ladson, SC 29456), next to Cook Motors near the Fairground.

You can drop her off at the office or find the white Ford that says ARC in the park. We can come pick her up or meet you somewhere, whatever it takes. If you have seen her, have her, or anything please let me know ASAP!!!

A POLICE REPORT HAS BEEN MADE FOR THE MISSING PUPPY. My heart is completely broken with out her. I’m begging for your help to please bring my Ladybug home.

I AM OFFERING A NICE SIZED CASH REWARD FOR HER RETURN!! Any info please contact me; 215-514-2342 or email me at Wheresladybug@gmail.com.

All emails go to my Blackberry which I ALWAYS have so I can get emails, texts, & calls 24/7!!

THANK YOU for your Help!!

Sleepless in SC

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on October 20, 2009

It is almost three in the morning.

Tired? Yes, kinda sorta. Sleepy? No. Too much in my head.

Now it’s a quarter before four. I did fall asleep but I woke up again to the sound of snoring.

No not my own!

Ubuntu 7.04

Friday April 20th 2007. Downloaded it, burnt it, installed it, under one hour.

Excellent distro, and way better than the FC6 I was previously running.

Useful Tools

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on November 28, 2006

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a big fan of much Microsoft. It took a long time for me to warm at all towards Windows XP, and even now there is much about it to mutter about – not least the rigaramole that sometimes confronts you when upgrading, or when the registry gets corrupted beyond salvation, and no restore point, or registry backup will save you, as Windows refuses to load at all, even in safe mode, and in one recent case, the CD refused to even put a new copy of Windows on the drive as it kept finding the old, corrupted one, and stopping with a BSOD.

Anyway, a slight redemption comes with Windows Live Writer. I am using it now, and it is a very easy and useful tool for blogging. Simply add the Blog URL, your username and password, and it goes off and finds your blogm downloads the template, and you’re ready to blog! If you can use WordPad you can use, Live Writer, it’s that easy! You can even drag and drop pictures off your desktop or explorer into it whilst you type, and set margins around them; add live links; add tags.

A brand new tool I have jsut (in the last hour) downloaded, is Diigo – yes that not mispelt. IT looks to be a useful bookmark saving type tool, much like del.icio.us – I’ll write more in this when I’ve played around with it for a while. I’m going to be trying out it’s daily posting facility at The Eye

Updating Blogs

Posted in Blogging by eyebee on November 2, 2006

Working thru all the blogs I own and/or manage and completely updating them. Making sure they’re all running WordPress 2.05, also updating themes where available. Adding Jeromes-Keywords to all of them; adding PodPress to all of them; adding Viper’s Videotags to all of them.
